In September 2018, Go Energistics (GoE) was selected to provide initial outfitting and transition services for the newly designed 110,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art research facility as part of the San Francisco VA Medical Center (SFVAMC) on the Fort Miley Campus. Building 40 is part of a project that is retrofitting and updating the campus for seismic requirements as well as relocating and consolidating all researchers into one building.

Building 40, standing five levels, provides four floors of BSL- 1 to BSL-3 wet lab research space. The basement level contains a vivarium that includes holding rooms, procedure rooms, operating rooms and support spaces.
