Project Overview

In 2021, the Hawai’i Department of Health contracted Go Energistics to plan and execute the transition and occupancy for a new 144-bed forensic psychiatric facility. Spanning 170,000 square feet, this state-of-the-art facility integrates modern therapeutic environments, safety measures, and clinical best practices to enhance patient care.

The State of Hawai’i Department of Health (DOH) awarded Go Energistics two contracts in 2021. Phase 1 was for an assessment of the status of patient and staff transition and occupancy planning. Phase 2 is for planning patient and staff transition and occupancy for the newly constructed 144-bed, state-of-the-art forensic psychiatric facility.

The new, four-story secure forensic psychiatric facility spans 170,000 square feet and sits on the 103-acre DOH campus in Kaneohe, Hawai’i. This new facility is a major capital improvement to bring Hawai’i State Hospital into the 21st century. It includes inpatient psychiatric care units, a comprehensive rehabilitation mall, dining area, outdoor courtyards, admissions and transfer suites, building support functions and office spaces within a secured area. The facility will incorporate clinical best practices within a modern therapeutic environment.
